Surprisingly good, although since I've never really been into Star Trek I didn't understand some of the subtle jokes that the rest of the audience would laugh at. I thought it did a good job of introducing Star Trek even to people like myself who don't know the back story. Highly recommended, not because I care about Star Trek (which I don't, really) but because it was a great action movie with good acting and casting. (Sylar as Spock, anyone? I can't imagine anyone else who would have been better!)

We saw it too, and I so agree! It was good, and I definitely don't know Star Trek. But the moment I saw Sylar on Heroes I thought he was destined to play the role of Spock..haha.
I LOVED IT! And I'm in the same position... Not super familiar with Star Trek, but thought the casting, acting, and scripting were fabulous!
Loved the film.
